Can we user LONG datatype as a search option in PeopleSoft

We are trying to create a search field using the LONG data type in PeopleSoft. Can someone tell us if this be done?

nope
if you have Long Character with length Zero SIZE --------- answer is definite No.
If you have Long Character with length non-Zero size ----- there might be hope for using it (Depends on Database begin used)
