We developed a new XML report. Setup for Report Defn for the template is RTF, and it runs thru the Financial Gateway (as part of ACH payment processing). The RTF template is landscape, as it has many columns of data. Template looks good, even with the many columns that it has.
Process runs just fine, but the output file of the PDF looks much different. The columns are all pushed together, and it looks terrible.
Is there some setting or trick to get the PDF output to look as nice as the RTF template?
Any suggestions are greatly apprepriated.

How are you organizing your fields on the template? are they in a table? Try putting them in a table, it should help the PDF format.

Hi Buddy!
if in case you have fields which can be put in tabular form, you should try and use table as it will avoid any kinds of distortion in the output file.
Also, if in case you still have to use more than one tables which are not aligned, you can preview the files which are being made in the preview tab in BI publisher toolbar itself and can make minor adjustments if needed. it will surely save you from a lot of pain.
Finally when everything has been finalised and template is uploaded, try and download it to re-assure if the download template is same as what you wanted it to be, 'cause XMLP has some serious issues with it.
the output of rtf template made using BI publisher, the uploaded rtf template, and the downloaded final template from the front end' all may vary. though the first one can help you get a major idea and can help ur effort. the second one is of no use. Thus, all you have to do is...design using the BI publisher, and once done, upload and erify the final downloaded template. then make changes as required.
I attached a picture into the rtf and uploaded into report definition. When I click preview template image, the picture is not shown. Any ideas why?
Hi Peter
Rather than checking the preview, try checking for the actual downloadedform, 'cause previews in case of XMLP are highly distorted and different than the actual results.
P.S. I hope you are using BI Publisher. If need more help, check my previous post in the same thread
Hi Praneet Arora,
When I download the template file...its the same file as I have uploaded. But when I click preview, my fields in tabular forms are shown except the picture. The picture is not showing. Do I have to edit the picture properties or something?
I have tried generating the report which uses this template and the data mapping fields shows correctly, everything except the picture. The picture which I have included into the template rtf file is just not showing.
Much help is appreciated.
Hey Peter
You need not worry about how the 'preview' comes up.
If the downloaded PDF form is acceptable, it's fine; and you don't need to make any changes to the picture properties then.
And make sure to use Tables to place in the fields if the values are being populated in the record fields at runtime, as that will save your downloaded PDF from distortion.
Take care and God Bless
